PharmPix Approval
When your organization is configured to use PharmPix, prior authorization decisions are submitted electronically to PharmPix after each determination. The PharmPix status card on the task detail page shows the current state of that submission.
This card only appears when PharmPix integration is enabled for your organization.
Pending Approval
Certain PharmPix submissions — specifically PA initiations, continuations, and discontinuations — may be placed in manual mode, meaning a staff member must review and approve the submission before it is sent. When this applies, a task of type Awaiting staff approval appears in the task queue. You can also filter the task queue to Awaiting staff approval to find all such pending items at once.
On the task detail page, the PharmPix status card shows the submission details and presents two action buttons:
- Review & Submit — Opens a review dialog where you can inspect the submission parameters and confirm the send.
- Edit & Retry — Opens a dialog to edit the submission details (ECS codes, date range, authorized fills) before resubmitting.
Successful Submission
When a PharmPix submission succeeds, the status card shows a green PA submitted successfully to PharmPix alert along with:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Authorization ID | The PharmPix authorization identifier |
| Submitted | Date and time the submission was accepted |
| Submission ID | Internal submission reference |
Select View History to see the full PharmPix audit log for this task.
Failed Submission
When a submission fails, the status card shows a red alert. You will see:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Error Code | The code returned by PharmPix |
| Error Message | The human-readable error description |
| Retry Attempts | How many times submission has been attempted |
Two buttons let you recover from the failure:
- Review & Submit — Re-examine the current submission parameters and resubmit.
- Edit & Retry — Modify the parameters before resubmitting. The edit dialog lets you update ECS codes, start and end dates, and number of authorized fills.
After initiating a retry, the status card displays a progress indicator while the new submission processes. The task refreshes automatically when the job completes.
In-Progress Submission
While a PharmPix job is running, the status card shows an informational banner with a progress indicator. The page polls for updates in the background; you do not need to refresh manually.
