NPI Provider Data
The NPI Provider Data page lets you look up provider information from the national NPI registry and set tenant-level phone and fax overrides. Tenant overrides take precedence over global platform overrides, which in turn take precedence over the base NPI registry data.
Accessing NPI Provider Data
From the Settings gear menu in the top navigation, select NPI Provider Data.
The page has two tabs: Search Providers and Overrides.
Search Providers tab
Searching for a provider
In the search field, enter an NPI number or a provider name. Select Search (or press Enter). The results table appears showing all matching providers.
The page also shows the total number of active providers in the registry as a reference count next to the search button.
What the search results show
Each row in the results table shows:
- Provider — the provider’s name and NPI number. A Tenant Override chip indicates your organization has set a custom phone or fax for this provider. A Global Override chip indicates the platform has set an override.
- Phone — the provider’s phone number (from the registry or override).
- Fax — the provider’s fax number (from the registry or override).
- State — the state of the provider’s primary address.
Setting or updating an override
Select the pencil icon on any provider row to open the override editor. Enter the Phone and Fax numbers you want to use for this provider within your organization. Select Save to apply the override.
If you clear both fields and save, the override is removed and the provider reverts to the base NPI registry data (or global override if one exists).
Overrides tab
The Overrides tab shows all phone and fax overrides currently in effect for your tenant. Use the search field to filter by NPI number, then select Refresh to reload the list.
Each row shows the provider name, NPI, overridden phone and fax, the scope (Tenant or Global), who last updated it, and when.
Editing an override
Select the pencil icon on any row to update the phone or fax for that provider.
Removing an override
Select the delete icon on any row and confirm the removal. The provider will revert to the base NPI data or global override.
