Navigating GEMA

The Left Navigation

The narrow icon bar on the left side of every page is your main way to move between areas of GEMA. Each button is a circle icon with a tooltip showing its name. The sections available to you depend on your role and permissions.

If you are a global administrator operating in the global tenant, you instead see:

  • Tenant Management — view and enter individual client tenants
  • EDI Management — configure EDI mappings and integrations (global admins only)
  • Unmatched Faxes — review inbound faxes that could not be matched to a tenant; admins can import them into the correct tenant or archive (dismiss) ones they do not want to import (global admins only)

The Header Bar

The header runs across the top of every page.

Left Side

  • GEMA logo — clicking it takes you to your home page.
  • Tenant name — displays the name of the tenant you are currently working in.

Center

  • Search patients… — type a patient name or identifier and press Enter to jump directly to the Patients list with your search pre-filled. This field is not shown in the global tenant.

Right Side (from left to right)

Yellow badge with numberPending approval badge — tasks waiting for manual PharmPix approval. Clicking it opens the Tasks list pre-filtered to those tasks. Only visible when there are pending approvals.
Bell icon (red)Error notification bell — tasks with errors requiring attention. Clicking it opens the Tasks list filtered to error tasks.
Settings gearOpens the Settings menu (see below).
Person icon + your nameOpens the User menu.

The Settings Menu

Select the settings gear icon in the header to open the Settings menu. Items shown depend on your role:

  • Guideline Configuration — manage clinical guideline rules and documents
  • Guideline Evaluations — run and review batch guideline evaluations
  • Formularies — configure drug formularies
  • Business Units — switch your active business unit (see below)
  • Manage Tenant / Tenant Management — tenant configuration (admins only)
  • Ontology Manager — manage LOINC codes and clinical value sets
  • Medications — manage drug overrides and custom drug records
  • Data Sources — configure external data connections
  • NPI Provider Data — manage prescriber NPI overrides
  • Communication Letters — configure letter templates
  • Job Management — monitor background jobs (global admins only)
  • Callback Queue — review queued callbacks (global admins only)
  • Knowledge Base — open this help site

The User Menu

Select the person icon and your name button in the top-right corner to open the User menu:

  • Settings — opens your account settings
  • Sign Out — ends your session and returns you to the sign-in page

Switching Business Units

If your organization uses multiple business units, the Settings menu shows a Business Units section with your currently active unit listed.

  1. Select the settings gear to open the Settings menu.
  2. Under Business Units, select your current unit name.
  3. The Select Business Unit dialog opens, showing a searchable tree of available units.
  4. Select the unit you want to work in.
  5. Select Select to confirm. GEMA reloads in the context of the new business unit.

Changing your active business unit affects which patients, tasks, and data are shown throughout the application.

Signing Out

  1. Select the person icon + your name button in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Sign Out from the menu.

GEMA ends your session and returns you to the sign-in page.
